As a life-long union activists and President Emeritus of the California Federation of Teachers, I have experience dealing with labor issues. A critical issue today is the need to organize workers into viable unions. Even some Democratic office holders seem reluctant to support union organizing. We call these people “business Democrats” because of their support of business interests over the interests of working people. I will explore organizing, the rights of workers and other labor issues on this blog.

Workers are facing an uphill battle forming unions. The number of employers charged with violating federal labor law when it comes to union elections is eye-popping—and those are just the ones we know about. These violations, combined with weak labor laws and enforcement, are creating an unlevel playing field for workers seeking union representation.
